ABOUT US
Our beloved home town
Murillo´s Surf & Bodyboard Academy is based in São Pedro de Moel, a beautiful and misthycal beach “by the sea planted” and surrounded by the “king´s pinewood forest” with wild and uncrowded beaches and dozens of lonely waves waiting for you! Off season we often go to Peniche or even Figueira da Foz to do some lessons as the open sea at our hometown is quite wild and tough.
A team for you and a community for life
We started back in 2006, being by now, one of the oldest SurfSchools in the region.
Fully certified by Portuguese authorities, we're registered in Turismo de Portugal under the number 413/2010, certified by the Portuguese Surf Federation and with a team of certified surf coaches fully qualified, young and kind.
Our solid teaching methodology, based on a "safety first" policy, can take you from the very beginning debut to a nearly pro level and makes our motto "Waves are as big as we make them" so meaningful as true to itself.
We also have technical gear to rent (surfboards, wetsuits, SUPs, Bodyboards, etc.), personal accidents and liability insurances on every service and most recently a SurfShop where you can buy souvenirs and the best surfing gear.

MURILLO
Founder and Owner
Born in 1981, Murillo is a Waverider (bodyboard, longboard and shortboard) since 1992. Turned into a Life Guard in 1999 until 2005 (updated title in 2025). In 2001, he became a Certified Surf Instrutor by Portuguese Surf Federation and in 2002, he started as Surf instructor and manager at the 1st surf school at São Pedro de Moel.
In 2005, Murillo graduated in Sports and Physical Education and founded, one year later, in 2006, his own Surf School: Murillo's Surf and BodyBoard Academy. He´s also graduated in Management (2014), post-graduated in Digital Marketing (2016) and has a Master Degree in Exercise Prescription and Health Promotion (2023). Since 2019 he´s cooperating as University Teacher at Leiria´s Polytechnic University teaching Surfing as an Organic Unit subject of the Sports and Well Being degree. In his most recent formations are Tow-in Surf and JetSki Rescue workshops in Praia do Norte Nazaré (2017, 2019 and 2024), Level 2 Bodyboard Coach Professional Title (2021), a Surfing Specialist Title (2022), and Level 3 Surf Coach Professional Title (2024).
Known for his charisma, good mood and vibes, he´s been working on developing the business in order to provide the customers the best unforgettable and joyfull time, specially while you´re by São Pedro de Moel.
